Would you like to experiment with a design like this? You'll find a supply list below, including a link to the stencil I used from A Colorful Life Designs. Follow the link and use discount code ChrisFan10 to save 10% on your entire order! (Master Creator Bundles are excluded as they already have a 20% discount built in.)
Let’s get started:
Card Base: 5.5 x 8.5, scored and folded at 4.25
Red Border: 5.25 x 4
Card Face: 5 x 3.75
Card Face:
I sprayed the back of the stencil with Pixie Spray, waited about 30 seconds and then laid it in place on the card face.
Using a small brayer I went over the entire surface thoroughly, ensuring good contact between the stencil and the card face.
I used medium blue ink over the entire surface of the stencil.
I used a corner chomper to create a fun shape in each corner.
Other:
I had previously stamped, coloured and fussy cut the two tea cups: they were in my Ready to Go Binder*** so I simply had to pull them out.
I used the corner chomper on each corner of the red border layer.
I had also stamped the sentiment ahead of time, so it was also retrieved from the Ready to Go Binder.***
*** see Ready to Go Binder under the Techniques tab in the header for an explanation of how I use this to increase efficiency.
Assembly:
I glued the red border layer to the card base, and then glued the card face onto this, centering each layer carefully.
I experimented with the placement of the tea cups, ultimately deciding on having them on the card face.
I cut a small, narrow piece of red cardstock slightly longer than the sentiment.
I glued these two together, added foam tape to the back and put them in place as shown.
Final Thoughts
This is such a simple card, but appealing none the less. The red and blue combination works very well in this design.
