Let’s Get Started:
Card Base: 5.5 x 8.5, scored and folded at 4.25
Gray Border: 5.5 x 4
Card Face:5.5 x 3.7/8
Card Face:
I secured the stencil to the card face with Mint Tape, grabbed brushes and inks and set to work.
I selected soft colours to use with this stencil, a gentle blue and a quiet green. They blended beautifully on the background, contrasting nicely with the white flowers in the meadow.
I put the card face into my stamp positioner and added the sentiment in a soft gray: I wanted it to match the background rather than make a bold statement.
Other:
I had already stamped and coloured the tiny butterfly long ago: it was put into my ready-to-go binder. The day had finally come for her to take her place on a card.
See Techniques in the header for an explanation of the binder.
Assembly:
I glued the gray border layer to the cardbase, centering vertically. I repeated this process with the card face.
I put liquid glue on the center of the butterfly, and placed her on a blossom.
When the glued had dried, I added tiny pieces of dimensional foam to the underside of each wing to prevent them from flattening in the mail.
Final thoughts:
I had very different plans for this card when I began, but as soon as I saw the soft tones of the stencilled image I changed my mind, and it became a sympathy card.
