Madonna and Child

Let’s get Started:

Card Base: 5.5 x 8.5, scored and folded at 4.25

Striped Border Layer: 5.25 x 4

Focal Image: 3.5 x 3.5, before die cutting

A very easy,, but striking card made for my Mom to send this Christmas.

Focal Image:

• I positioned the die on the appropriate paper, and ran it through the Big Shot.

Other:

• I put the stencil in place on the blue cardstock and used a palette knife to smooth Duo gel over the exposed areas.**

• I removed the stencil and placed it into water immediately.

• Once dry (the gel is white when it goes on, and clear when dry) I placed a piece of blue transfer foil over the cardstock and ran it through my Big Shot.

• I removed the foil and the foiled pattern was left behind, courtesy of the Duo gel.

• I looked through my binder and found a great sentiment for this design.***

Assembly

• I glued the border layer to the card base, and the die cut on top of this.

(I added glue sparingly on the back of the die cut and blotted it on scrap paper to remove any excess before putting it in place. This prevented the glue from seeping out from under the fine lines of this die cut.)

• I put dimensional foam on the back of the sentiment and put it in place as shown.

Final Thoughts:

The luxurious, graphic feel of the stencilled image contrasted beautifully with the elegance and simplicity of the Madonna and Child. I was so happy with this result.
