This card was created for a challenge over at 613 Avenue Create. The challenge this month is Fabulous Florals, but Anything Goes is also always an option there. The amazing sponsor for May is Sheepski: their digital stamps are fabulous. Hop on over and check out the awesome entries - and while you’re there, feel free to share a card and grow the creativity!

Let’s get Started:

Card Base 5.5 x 8.5, scored and folded at 4.25

Yellow Border: 5.5 x 4.25

Card Face: approximately 5 ⅛ x 3 ⅞

A piece of scrap cardstock to put behind the die cut. Approximately 5.5 x 2.25

Card Face:

The image from Sheepski is a bouquet of flowers: I had to figure out what I wanted to do with it before I could get going. I pulled it into Canva and added a frame. Then I shrunk it down and duplicated it twice. I played with placement a bit and ended up with what you see here. I downloaded it, and printed it onto 80 lb cardstock.

  • I coloured the flowers with alcohol markers.

  • I used a Paper Rose die to cut the wavy pattern to the right of the floral images.

  • I tore a narrow strip off the right hand edge of the card. *

*See Creating a Torn Edge Under Techniques in the header.

Other:

  • Using the piece of scrap cardstock I randomly brushed on colours that were similar to those used to colour the flowers. I made the colours quite intense as they appeared faded once put behind the card face.

  • I stamped the sentiment and used a die to cut it out.

Assembly

  • I glued the scrap piece behind the die cut openings on the card face.

  • I glued the yellow layer to the card base, and then added the card face on top of both.

  • I added foam tape to the back of the sentiment and put it in place.

  • I added tiny, clear butterflies here and there to complete the card.

Final Thoughts:

A fresh and pretty thank you card. I make thank you cards for the local hospital gift shop, and this will be a good addition to my stash.
