Would you like to experiment with a design like this? You'll find a supply list below, including a link to the stencil I used from A Colorful Life Designs. Follow the link and use discount code ChrisFan10 to save 10% on your entire order! (Master Creator Bundles are excluded as they already have a 20% discount built in.)
Let’s get started:
Cream Card Base: 5.5 x 8.5, scored and folded at 4.25
Coral Border: 5.5 x 4.25
Cream Card Face: 5.25 x 4
Piece of coral cardstock for the die cut, approx 5 x 2.5”
Card Face:
I secured the stencil to the card face with Mint Tape and applied coral ink across the entire surface.
I built the intensity up at the top right and bottom left, allowing it to fade towards the center.
I allowed the ink to dry and then used anti-static powder over the entire surface.
I put the card face into my stamp positioner, positioned the stamp and stamped it a couple of times with black pigment ink. (I had to mask the bottom portion of this stamp as it is larger than I wanted to use on this card.)
I removed the card face from the stamp positioner and immediately sprinkled the sentiment with clear embossing powder, setting it with my heat gun.
Other:
I ran the smaller piece of coral cardstock through the Big Shot with the die. This die actually cuts the outline of the bird with the “swooshes”, leaving the bird intact.
I pressed the bird portion into my Versamark pad, coated it with Holographic embossing powder and set it with my heat gun.
Assembly:
I glued the outline portion of the die cut across the bottom of the card.
I glued the sparkly interior bird in place as shown.
I added a tiny gem for the bird’s eye, and 3 matching gems under the sentiment.
Final Thoughts
I had created this background weeks before it got used: I liked it, but just couldn’t visualize the kind of card I wanted to use it with. Once I got this die I knew what I wanted to do and I was really happy with the end result.
