Let’s get started:-
White Card Base: 5.5 x 8.5, scored and folded at 4.25:
Black Card Face: 5.5 x 3.75
Small piece of silver card stock for dragonfly
A narrow strip of white cardstock for the sentiment.
Card Face:
I started by dusting my card face with anti-static powder very well.
I put the card face onto my Grip Mat and laid the stencil over that.
I firmly pressed my Versamark embossing ink pad through the stencil, going over the entire surface a couple of times to be certain I hadn’t missed any spots.
I removed the stencil, sprinkled the card face with embossing powder, and set it with my heat gun. When melted, this powder is a striking mix of black and pewter.
I positioned a zig-zag die about ¾” in from the right-hand side and ran it through my Big shot.
Other:
I die-cut the dragonfly out of silver card stock.
I stamped the sentiment towards the left-hand side of the narrow strip of cardstock using embossing ink. I sprinkled it with silver embossing powder and set it with my heat gun.
Assembly:
I glued both pieces of the card face to the card base, lining them up carefully on the top and bottom.
I added the sentiment at an angle as shown, trimming to fit.
I glued down the dragonfly, allowing the tail to land on the sentiment strip.
I added three iridescent gems in graduated sizes as shown.
Final Thoughts
The strong contrast between black and white, coupled with the mottled effect of the embossing powder makes this card really stand out.
