It's only September, but summer is beginning to feel like a memory. Those rare moments when we can watch the dragonflies dancing on the water, and just breathe .....

Let’s Get Started

Card Base: 4.25 x 11, scored and folded at 5.5

Card Face: medium blue cardstock, 4 x 5.5

Piece of mauve cardstock approx. 2.5 x 5.5

Small Scrap of Cardstock for Sentiment

Card Face:

  • I secured the Dragonfly Flight stencil to the card face with Mint Tape, and applied a dark blue ink through the stencil creating a tone on tone pattern. (I focussed on the right hand side of the card face throughout the process, as I knew that the left side would be covered.)

  • I put the card face into an embossing folder and then ran it through the Big Shot.

  • I ran a white ink pad over the inked surface with a very light hand. Then I added a few small splotches and swipes to create a distressed look.

Other:

  • Securing the Dragonflies stencil to the mauve cardstock with Mint Tape, I added Duo foiling gel. After this was dry (it turns from white to clear when dry, usually in less than an hour) I added Amethyst Watercolour foil. The result was stunning.

  • I ran this through the Big Shot with a different embossing folder.

  • I looked in my Ready To Go binder to find a sentiment.

Assembly:

  • I glued the blue card face to the card base, centering verticallly.

  • I glued the mauve cardstock to the card face, alligning on the left hand side.

  • I used a gel pen to create a white line against the right hand edge of the mauve cardstock.

  • I put dimensional tape on the back of the sentiment and put it in place as shown.

  • I added small white flowers randomly on the right hand side, and then glued very tiny rhinestones in the center of each one.

Final thoughts:

The Amethyst wastercolour foil is so gorgeous in real life - it has just enough variation in tone to make a huge difference on this card. I love that, dragonflies, and a blue-purple combo, so I'm happy with this card.
