This card was created for the optional challenge over at 613 Avenue Create.  The challenge this month is Diamonds and Pearls -   hop on over and check out the awesome entries. While you’re there,  feel free to create a card and  grow the creativity!

Let’s get Started:

Card Base:  5.5 x 8.5, scored and folded at 4.25

Card Face:  approx 5 ⅛ x 3 ⅞ after die cut

Small strip of cardstock for sentiment

Card Face:

  • I stamped the gnome with memento ink and coloured him with alcohol markers.

  • I already knew I wanted to use this “magical” sentiment from the set,  so in order to enhance that I stamped the paint coming from the end of the brush and the one coming from the tube with Versamark embossing ink, sprinkled  Midas Touch embossing powder and set it with my heat gun.  (this is a really nice embossing powder with a bit of sparkle to it.)

  • I added a few highlights with a white gel pen.

  • At this point in the process I realized that I should have put him on a background -  all that white was too stark.

  • I inked up the Linen stamp with soft brown ink, stamped off on a piece of scrap paper and then laid the card face down on it,  running my fingers over the surface gently.  I concentrated on the outer edges , largely leaving the middle alone.   Luckily for me , this worked!  You can see the ink here and there on the figure,  but it’s faint and doesn’t ruin the effect.

Other:

  • I stamped the sentiment in red ink,  trimmed the cardstock down to a narrow strip and put dimensional foam on the back.

  • I die cut the card face using a deckled rectangle  die,  and then put dimensional foam on the back of this as well.

Assembly:

  • I centered the card face on the card base, and glued it in place.

  • I added the sentiment as shown in the image.

  • I added tiny rhinestones into the paint coming from both the tube and the brush.  They are very tiny,  but you can see them in the close up image.

Final Thoughts:

He is such a cheery guy,  with his paint, plans and all those spatters!  He’s ok with making a mess during the process -  kind of like me, LOL.

On another note -  this background stamp is one of the most versatile ones I own -  it adds texture without detail,  and sometimes that is all that is needed.
