I love this simple and primitive tree stencil. I had the thought that I might be able to use effectively in the foreground of a scene - I’m so happy that it worked.

Let’s get Started:

Card Base: 5.5 x 8.5, scored and folded at 4.25

Gold Border Layer: 5.5 x 4.25 **

Card Face: 5.25 x 4

** See Cheating on Layers and Borders under Stretch your Pennies in the header

Card Face:

  • I started by creating the scene: I stamped the barn, the trees, the fence and the footprints all in the same brown ink.

  • I added a few extra lines in the snow to complete the scene, using a black micro liner. Although it was the wrong colour it was so fine that it didn’t create an issue.

  • After the ink was dry I dusted the card face with anti-static powder.

  • I put it on the Grip Mat and positioned the stencil. I pressed my embossing ink pad through the stencil.

  • After removing the stencil I scattered gold embossing powder over the embossing ink and set it with my heat gun.

  • I spattered the completed card face with metallic gold watercolour to become falling snow.

Other:

  • I looked through my binder *** and selected a sentiment.

  • After experimenting for a bit with placement I decided to cut it in two.

See Ready to Go Binder under Techniques in the header to learn how I use this tool to save time and money.

Assembly

  • I glued the gold border layer to the card base and centered the card face on this.

  • I put foam tape on the back of the sentiment pieces and placed them as shown in the image.

Final Thoughts:

The three different golds in this piece complement each other very well. There is just enough sheen on this serene, country card to make it fabulous.
