Let’s get Started:
Card Base: 5.5 x 8.5, scored and folded at 4.25
Border Layer: 5.25 x 4.25
Card Face: 5.25 x 4.25
Scrap of White cardstock for sentiment.
Strip of Holographic silver cardstock: ¼” x 5”
Card Face:
I sprayed the back of the stencil with pixie spray.
I laid the card face on my Grip Mat and then positioned the stencil.
I went over all exposed areas with a heavy hand and navy blue ink.
When I removed the stencil I saw that (despite the Pixie Spray) I had an area where ink had crept under the stencil. Rather than waste the card face I cut away the error, trimming the card face at a diagonal as shown.
After the ink had dried I stamped the fireworks onto the card face with Versamark embossing ink, sprinkled on silver embossing powder and set this with my heat gun.
Other:
I put the border layer into my stamp positioner and stamped the large firework image, placing it in the lower right corner so that it would not be impacted by the card face. I stamped with Versamark embossing ink. and added silver embossing powder then set this with my heat gun.
I also stamped the sentiment with Versamark embossing ink, added silver embossing powder and set it with my heat gun.
I cut this out with a die.
I gently pressed the edges of this into my Versamark pad, added silver embossing powder and set it with my heat gun.
Assembly
I added a layer of adhesive foam to the back of the border layer and glued it to the card base, centering horizontally.
I added the card face on top of these, aligning to the top and left hand edges.
I glued the silver cardstock along the bottom edge of the card face, trimming to the correct length on both ends.
I put a piece of foam dimensional tape on the back of the sentiment, and then added it to the card front.
Final Thoughts:
This is such a fun stencil to work with: I wanted to see if I could create a simple, but impactful black and white card. With the help of the holographic cardstock I think I succeeded!
