Would you like to experiment with a design like this? You'll find a supply list below, including a link to the stencil I used from A Colorful Life Designs . My list includes cards for people of all ages: and not all of them enjoy a traditional or a nostalgic card. Or even a whimsical card. This fun contemporary design will work so very well for many on my list.
Let’s Get Started:
Card Base: 4.25 x 11, scored and folded at 5.5
Merlot Border strip: 1/4 x 5.5 "
Card Face: 3.75 x 5.5
Small pieces of Cardstock for words
Card Face:
I secured the stencil to the card face with Mint Tape, positioning the center of the design where I wanted it, and allowing the sides to extend past the paper.
I inked up the stencil with a light sage green ink (I love this colour).
I put the card face into the stamp positioner and added the star burst with silver embossing powder, allowing enough room for the large word to fit in the middle.
Other:
I positioned a piece of paper into the stamp positioner and began stamping "Merry" in a rich merlot red.
This stamp has three layers, so I repeated the process with green and purple for a very contemporary palette.
I also stamped the two small words with black ink - be and very.
I used a die to cut out the "Merry" , but cut the two smaller words out by hand.
Assembly:
I glued the card face to the card base, alligning on the left.
I added the narrow strip of cardstock, butting it up snugly against the right hand side of the card face as shown.
I glued the "Merry" in place, and then added the two smaller words above it.
I added both gold and silver spatter, using metallic watercolour.
I added 5 dark red pearls in various sizes to the card face.
Final thoughts:
This card is well outside my usual design style: it's always good for me to have to stretch a bit. I like the contemporary feel of this card.
